Nicole's Story
Sage Interiors is the combination of my love for home and my passion for sustainable and timeless home furniture and decor.
When people ask how Sage Interiors began, I always smile—it’s been a journey shaped by leaps of faith, a love for design, and a belief that home is the heart of life.
In 2005, I took a bold step: leaving behind a fast-paced career as an attorney in Hong Kong to pursue a lifelong dream. My husband, Nigel, a pilot, and I traveled the world together, and along the way, I discovered extraordinary artisans—craftsmen who poured love and skill into every piece they created. Their work inspired me to build something of my own: a way to bring sustainable, timeless furniture into people’s homes, pieces made with intention, beauty, and soul.
Since the beginning, I’ve made it my mission to share these loves with others and help them create a beautiful home that feels like theirs. I’ve curated Sage Interiors’ signature collections, furnishings, and décor to provide a wide range of styles and options so you can add a little eco-chic and sustainable luxury to your life—whether you’re a busy parent, a business tycoon, or an empty-nester. And whatever changes or new chapter life brings—marriage, moving in together, downsizing, or starting fresh—we’re here to help you create a space that reflects who you are and supports where you’re going.
Sage Interiors is a destination for you to discover your inner style and bring it to life in your home. It’s a portal to connect with who you are and how you want to live every day. We promise you will find something that connects with you and tells a part of your own story.
That seed quickly grew. My first business blossomed into three stores in Hong Kong and eventually was listed on the stock exchange. But as life shifted, so did our priorities. We settled for a time on a rustic farm in Australia, where we raised our boys and embraced sustainability in its truest sense. When our family later returned to the Pacific Northwest—where Nigel had first learned to fly—it felt like coming full circle.
We planted new roots in Tacoma’s awe-inspiring Old Nisqually Power Station, opening under the name TREE. And in 2021, we rebranded as Sage Interiors—a name chosen to reflect wisdom, growth, and the evolving dreams of our clients.
What began with reclaimed wood furniture has since flourished into a curated collection of thousands of sustainable, luxurious, and timeless pieces. More importantly, Sage Interiors has grown into a design studio, where my talented team of interior designers and I help clients create homes that feel like an extension of themselves. We guide you through the process, combining furnishings, flow, and function, until your home reflects your personality and lifestyle.
I understand more than ever that homes shouldn’t be perfect or pristine – they should reflect the lives of the people inside them. I knew I wanted to help people create a home they truly loved to live in, that felt like theirs...
Throughout my journey, I’ve made sure that every Sage Interiors piece is timeless and made with love by sources we trust, and that every selection is delivered with care into your home by our celebrated in-house delivery team. Most importantly, my team and I walk with you through every step of the design process. Together, we transform uncertainty and overwhelm into a joyful journey of discovery—leading to a home that inspires, comforts, and uplifts.
In 2025, Sage Interiors is proud to celebrate five Best of South Sound wins—each one voted by our community—and the incredible privilege of being selected once again to design and furnish the prestigious Northwest Idea House in Gig Harbor. To be chosen twice in just eight years for such a visionary project is a tremendous honor, and one that continues to inspire our work every day.
Through every step of this journey, one truth has always guided me: home is where the heart is. It’s where life unfolds, where love grows, and where the stories of our lives are written. Helping people create homes they love is not just my profession—it’s my passion, my purpose, and my joy.
From my heart to your home,
Nicole
